Fishing news - Japanese spider crab
Fishing news - Japanese spider crab
A giant Japanese spider crab with limbs more than 5ft (1.5m) long has gone on show in Britian. Nicknamed Crabzilla he is thought to be the biggest crab ever to be seen in Britain and you certainly wouldn’t want to get pinched by his massive claws. But experts at the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham say he is still growing and his legs could grow to 15ft (4.5m)

Underwater River
One of the most amazing news :These pictures show what looks like an underwater river in Cenote Angelita Mexico. You can see a scuba diver “swimming” in the underwater river as it flows along the bottom of the sea.
These amazing pictures were taken by Anatoly Beloshchin in the cave Cenote Angelita, Mexico. Here’s his description: “We are 30 meters deep, fresh water, then 60 meters deep– salty water and under me I see a river, island and fallen leaves… Actually, the river, which you can see, is a layer of hydrogen sulphide.”

Monkfish
The monkfish is a unique fish. It is also known as anglerfish, fishing frog, lawyerfish, bellyfish, and goosefish. The monk fish has apeculiar head that is covered with spiny protruberances and a pair of antennae that have lures of fake algae to lure fish to it for consumption. Monkfish lie on the ocean floor and wait for smaller fish to approach its special lure before it attacks. They grow to lengths of 1.5 m (5 ft) and weigh 20 kg (45 lbs). Harvested monkfish are usually smaller.Monkfish are live on the ocean bottom, typically on sand, mud, and shell habitats. They can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and depths from inshore up to at least 2,950 feet deep.
Few males are seen older than age 7, females live longer than males, to at least 13 years and likely more Monkfish are opportunistic feeders, feeding on whatever prey is available at the time. Adults mainly eat fish, including other monkfish, but also consume crustaceans, mollusks, seabirds, and diving ducks. Larvae feed on zooplankton (tiny floating animals); juveniles eat mostly small fish including sand lance, as well as shrimp and squid. Interesting fishing news.

World’s smallest fish
Scientists have discovered the world’s smallest fish on record in an acidic peat swamp in Indonesia, with a see-through body and a head that is unprotected by a skeleton, researchers said Wednesday.
Mature females of the Paedocypris progenetica, a member of the carp family, only grow to 7.9 millimeters (0.31 inches) and the males have enlarged pelvic fins and exceptionally large muscles that may be used to grasp the females during copulation, researchers wrote in the Proceedings of the Royal Society, published Wednesday by the Royal Society in London. Amazing news.
“This is one of the strangest fish that I’ve seen in my whole career,’ said Ralf Britz, zoologist at the Natural History Museum in London, who helped analyze the fish’s skeleton. “It’s tiny, it lives in acid and it has these bizarre grasping fins. I hope we’ll have time to find out more about them before their habitat disappears completely.”

Amazing Fishing News
One way anglers can supplement their knowledge of fish and fishing (news) is to assimilate the knowledge and experience of other anglers. Fishing magazine articles, television fishing programs, area fishing news and word-of-mouth can never replace actual fishing experience, but can have an impact on success. Watching or reading about the fishing techniques of others can often prove successful wherever you fish. Since few in today's society have opportunities to fish every day, most sport fishermen rely to some degree on information generated by other anglers.
One fact I found amazing was that fish can actually drown! Okay, you are probably wondering how is that possible? Well a fish needs oxygen just like we do. So when they are taken out of the water they get a lethal dose of oxygen because thier gills can't handle the intake.I will never forget when I found out the fact that lipstick actually contained fish scales! That was a sad day for me and I even considered never using lipstick again.
Fish represent an integral step in the food chain. Fish feed on plants and small animals in the water transferring their energy to the fish. Other creatures than feed on the fish, man included, and take in the energy in the fish as energy in the form of calories. If fish were removed from the planet, the food chain would be devastated.

Currently, the IGFA recognizes a 26 kg (55 pound) pike caught by Lothar Louis in Lake of Grefeern, Germany, on 16 Oct. 1986 as the all-tackle world record northern pike.
Interesting fishing news :The new world record holder for the biggest freshwater fish is the Giant Mekong catfish (Pangasius gigas).
The new world record holder for the biggest freshwater fish is the Giant Mekong catfish (Pangasius gigas). The biggest one ever captured and measured was caught in Thailand in May of 2005. It was 9 feet long and weighed 646 pounds. The fish in the photo below was captured by some fisherman where the species is considered endangered, but can still be caught with special permits.
Oarfish are large, greatly elongated, pelagic Lampriform comprising the small family Regalecidae. Found in all temperate to tropical oceans yet rarely seen, the oarfish family contains four species in two genera. One of these, the king of herrings (Regalecus glesne), is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest bony fish alive, at up to 17 metres (56 ft) in length. Living in the world’s warmer oceans, it feeds on plankton and is harmless to humans. Amazing fishing news.

The biggest pike
Interesting fishing news :The new world record holder for the biggest freshwater fish is the Giant Mekong catfish (Pangasius gigas).
There is even an English story of a pike found dead in a haystack. His teeth were set into the hind leg of a dead fox. The story suggests the pike attacked the fox before it was dragged from the water. The English do like country tales!
The Irish have even more pike stories. That's fair; they have more pike. Many of these early big fish were caught in Ireland's Lough -- lakes -- or rivers. Few were caught on rods. It was only after 14th century German armorers developed the art of drawing wire that reliable wire leaders became available and bigger fish could be taken by more sporting methods. Horsehair leaders don't cut it with pike!
John Buller, in his British book Pike and the Pike Angler lists at least 34 Irish and English pike ranging in size from 92 pounds down to the weight of the current North American record fish. A recent magazine listing reported 99 fish larger than Dubuc's North American Record. Some of these records (the list goes back to 1822) are a bit obscure. A number are well-documented and pike approaching muskie-size may be the occasional result of the combination of ideal conditions and a lack of angling pressure.

Fishing news
1. always make sure while fishing shortlines that the wind is blowing towards you when it is coolout and but the sun is shining bright. 2. always make sure that if its cool out to fish when the sun is directly above you. that insures you the fish will be active and be feeding. 3. during spring the morning from 1-10 is about a 4 for amazing fishing, noon about a 7,night about a 5 because the sun was shining on the water making the surface water temp a little warmer and the fish will go to the surface mor to get the suns rays and warmth of the warmed water, that also goes along with the steps 1 and 2 i stated above!! also if using lures when it is warm out be sure that you follow step 1 and use surface lures because the fish love the warmer water and if you are interesting fishing for bass this is the best thing to catch the giants... but it is also wise to use bait instead of lures, and for those of you who don't know this bait is live and lures are fake!! 4.when fishing with bobbers always make sure; depending on the water depth, that you put the bobber no more than 4 feet from the bait or lure and no less than 1.5 feet from it and always make sure that you use small bobbers because fish aren't smart, but they definately aren't stupid!! 5. always fish shorelines during the warmer weather and rain is good too because the fish move to the surface while it is raining and you are more likely to get the catch of a lifetime!!! finally obey the catch and release rules, have fun and catch a beauty!!!!

Bass Fishing
Knowing how to tell a small mouth from a large-mouth bass, striped from spotted and so on, is a very basic skill most anglers master quickly. Looking specifically at size and physical features
are good places to start. Train your eye to ‘spot the differences’, so to speak. Most, if not all of the so-called ‘insider’ secrets, tips and stories to tell of big hauls of Bass, all revolve, around a very simple basic rule – understanding the fish, (their life-cycles, feeding preferences, habits and patterns, habit and menu of choice, their nature, their relationship with the broader eco-system
and position on the food-chain, timing it right. Also heeding your surroundings, your fishing equipment (tools), having the know how and basics under your belt and finally optimizing (every!)
opportunity… In effect, you are going about, creating the most favorable angling process and outcome you can muster! Bass fishing is a passion, a science and an art form upon itself.
It appeals to young and old, attracts anglers from all walks of life and both sides of the professional and amateur spectrum.

Following the huge success of Jeremy Wade's River Monsters series in the US (highest ever audience figures in the history of Animal Planet) it is now showing on ITV1 in the UK. These half-hour programmes air on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm. A second season is also in production, featuring an all-new cast of outsize and outlandish fish. This will be broadcast on Animal Planet US from April 2010.
It’s a moment of television gold – and unlike some other television shows that Jeremy would be far too polite to mention, nothing is faked. It all happens in the camera and for real. The only trouble is that Jeremy has to perform this stunt every week and do so in genuinely harsh conditions.

Blue Marlin
Blue marlin feed primarily on tunas and other pelagic fishes and to a lesser extent on young reef fishes and squid. It is difficult to find a blue marlin over 10 years old, however they are believed to live up to 15 years. All specimens of trophy size are females; males do not exceed 300 pounds.
The blue's enormous size and legendary fighting ability make it one of the most highly-targeted gamefish in the world. Anglers commonly troll natural baits such as mackerel, tuna, bonito, ballyhoo and dolphin in hopes of enticing one of these giants. Brightly colored lures and teasers are also commonly used.

Fishing From Small Boats
When someone mentions using a small boat, it conjurs up images of pulling a flat bottom boat out of the mud and sitting in the leaking aluminum hull while plying shallow stumps and bushes for fish that inhabit these type waterholes. But on this site, you'll find that fishing from small boats is more than just a mudhole experience. With a carefully rigged flatbottom boat, canoe or kayak, you can do some serious fishing on some serious bodies of water. And while the pond experience will be included because of it's value to those with small boats, fishing from small boats in lakes of all sizes and types are discussed on this web site.

Fishing Tips -- The Secret is Fishing in the Right Place
Saltwater fishing more often than not involves fishing a particular sort of water, or habitat, for a range of related species rather than one particular fish. Most blue-water charter boats rig skip baits to catch any number of fast-swimming species. The reef fisher is "grab-bagging" for all sorts of fish. The giant bottom-fishing party boats will haul up flatfish, tautog, cod, and many other species. The flats fisher is often equipped to catch tarpon or bonefish. The surf fisher, who baits his or her own hook, and makes individual decisions about where and how to fish will be prepared to pursue any number of species, depending on which fish are running or biting during a particular season.
